Learning something new

Good afternoon from the cold and wet Goldfields of Western Australia.
Anyone who knows me knows new technology and I don't play nicely together. I often get frustrated trying to learn new things - to the point where I want to pick up my laptop and throw it out a window. Can you relate?
I've paid for a course to learn how to use Photoshop. I can't even begin to list all the different subsections, and all the number of lessons in each section. It's mind blowing how many there are. Needing a break from writing for a while, I decided to try and learn how to use overlays properly. I've only done 7 lessons! There are more to do. And, to top off my frustration, the lessons are taught by someone using a Mac - I use windows, so all the 'shortcut' keys are DIFFERENT! Ugh. I began this particular section about 3 days ago (give or take some hours - my eyes are turning square).
Each lesson gets harder. And the final three storyboard images literally took more than a few hours, each, especially the musician one - that was labor intensive! But, I think I'm actually getting the hang of how to use overlays. Some of these lessons take HOURS to complete, depending on the intricacies (like the musician - that was HARD).
I've done up some storyboard type images showing the end result, with the original photo (jpg) I started with, and all the different overlays used for that lesson. I don't think I've done too bad. You be the judge. Take a look and let me know what you think. I promise I can take criticism.
