EXCERPT ...
“I’m taking you home.” His shiny, sleek black limousine pulled up to a stop at the curb. “After you---Precious,” Levi gestured with an amused grin on his lips, sweeping his arm out in front of him.
With meticulously careful steps, I meekly moved toward the door that was being held opened for me, and climbed awkwardly inside, sprawling across the seat, while Levi climbed gracefully in behind me. Thoughts of the Hamilton Estate were now creeping through my mind after he called me Precious.
“Your limo?”
“Yes, Angelica---my Limo.”
“You shouldn’t really call me that. It’s gonna confuse all my friends. I’m Su-mantha,” I mumbled.
“We both know you’re not.”
Groaning with frustration, I laid my head back on the seat. I didn’t have the energy to fight him about it. I was so tired. Kicking my heels off, I curled my legs up on the seat next to me, and propped my head comfortably against his wide, rounded shoulder.
He lifted his arm up, and repositioned me on his chiseled chest, settling his arm effortlessly across the back ledge of the seat. The beautiful smell of his skin, and the steady rhythm of his beating heart, soothed me.
“Angelica---Angelica?”
Moaning in protest, I tried to open my eyes, but they didn’t want to co-operate.
“Angelica---for God’s sake---I need your key!”
Fumbling around in my clutch bag, I found it, and handed it over to Levi, still trying to get my eyes to focus on just one of him.
“Wait here,” he ordered sternly.
I made an attempt to salute him, but didn’t quite pull it off.
“Yes, Sir!” I slurred, giggling when I heard the car door open, and then thud softly when it closed.
I stretched languorously out across the whole back seat. All of a sudden, the door opened again, and I felt an arm underneath my knees, and one under my shoulders---then weightlessness when he picked me up off the seat, with little effort.
I realized he was carrying me through my front door, and I snuggled my head in against the warm skin of his neck. Without warning, he dumped me unceremoniously on the couch, before he disappeared back through the front door, only to return a short while later.
