EXCERPT ...
I felt more at ease seeing Angelica was no longer alone. I returned to my chair, and rolled in closer to the monitor. Leaning back in the chair, I inadvertently rocked back, and forth, while I watched her proceed through the club with Kiara, and the little brunette.
Then, feeling more relaxed, I rolled the chair absently backward, and forward, slowly, and rhythmically, the wheels rolling silently in the depth of the plush pile of the carpet. I had to switch to another camera view to continue watching when Angelica joined the large group.
I saw the petite little blonde, Elaine, throw herself at Angelica, and Angelica enthusiastically wrap her arms around her friend in greeting. She was definitely excited to be in their company.
Daniel was next, and I was relieved when he gave her a one armed hug, and not the same greeting his girlfriend gave her.
Then I bolted upright in my chair, fuming. Angelica launched herself at the tanned, good looking blonde guy who was standing behind Daniel, wrapping her legs around his waist.
I had an overwhelming compulsion to break every bone in his body. It infuriated me that I had to stand idly by, and watch his arms engulf her. Chase. He, and I, immediately have a problem. He is too familiar with Angelica.
Some of the group appeared to be stunned by Angelica’s actions, which led me to believe she was acting out of character. The way Chase held his arms around her, the way he buried his face in the side of her neck, outraged me, to the point I had a hard time holding back the furious explosion that was ready to erupt.
I began to pace angrily. Then pacing wasn’t working for me anymore when I was forced to endure Chase’s hand slapping Angelica’s ass. I crossed to the door within seconds. It should be me slapping her ass. Not Chase.
The urgency of the situation called for my immediate interaction. Angelica will be furious when she sees me, especially after Toni assured her I wasn’t in the club, but I wasn’t going to stand by, and watch her being groped by those tanned biceps for one more minute.
“Levi, you’re not supposed to be here,” Simon reminded me.
He had wandered back over to the monitor, taking in my sudden change of mood. He should have saved his breath, because I wasn’t listening.
Gritting my teeth together, and clenching my jaw, I descended the steps two at a time, while my anger rose to a dangerously high level. Angelica was allowing Chase to totally envelope her, while she wouldn’t let me anywhere near her. There was nothing right with that picture!
I heard the steps echoing behind me. I knew Simon was about a step behind. He’d keep me from doing anything drastic. Like snapping that prick in two! Wouldn’t the press have a field day with that one! Simon cut me off from making a bee line in Angelica’s direction, and steered me with a firm grip on my arm to the end the bar.
“Levi, I suggest you wait!”
“His hands are all over her,” I bit out angrily.
“And if you want to have any hope of it being your hands instead, I suggest you wait!” Simon argued strongly.
He was right. If I barged over there, and dragged Angelica out of his arms like I wanted, I will destroy any chance of getting close to her. My patience was wearing very thin. Simon put his hand up to his ear.
“You sure you want Angelica to know you’re here? She’s coming this way. And she’s not alone.”
“Who’s with her?”
I wasn’t going to be responsible for my actions if Simon answered with Chase’s name.
